What kind of items can I sell at auction?
Most objects are auctionable. In Morton Auction House, we have a wide variety of specialized departments, such as antiques, modern and contemporary paintings, jewelry and watches, rare books and old documents; and contemporary cars and trucks as well as decorative art (from a vase to complete kitchenware of a house).
We don't accept appliances, and other things which by their nature or value are not recommended for auctioning. We suggest you contact us for any questions on this point.

Reliability. Your piece is valued at no cost, by specialists, resulting in the safest way to get the maximum benefit from your estate.
Security. The sale is made in an auction room which eliminates risks and inconvenience to you.
Price. You can be sure that your piece will be sold at the best price.

What steps do I have to follow in order to sell my items through Morton?

It's simple. Follow this procedure:
1. - Call for an appointment or email us or fax the picture and description of what you want to evaluate. At no cost, one of our specialists will give you an estimated price of your piece at auction according to market value. We can also visit you at your location.
2. - A consigment contract is signed. There could be fees depending on the value of the item for auction, plus an additional charge for handling and insurance. These fees are affordable and convenient, because they protect and expose your piece to many potential customers.
3. - The piece is picked up.
4. - Once the auction is held and the item has been paid by the purchaser, you will be paid by check or electronic transfer.

What if my piece did not sell at auction?
You can choose to remove it or put it back again for auction, but with a price adjustment, if you so agree.

What is the difference between consignment and pawn?
Consigning means leaving your piece in our hands, not giving money in exchange for it, until it was auctioned and the highest bidder has acquired your piece.
Pawning is an immediate loan, leaving your piece as collateral, which you can recover at a later point, or if you wish, you can leave your piece for later auctioning, getting the benefits from it.

How do I get my pieces to the auction house?
You can bring it here, if you live within the City or metropolitan area, we have shuttle service, which is an additional charge.
If you live in the interior of Mexico or abroad, you will be required to hire a professional service. We can suggest you alternatives if you contact us.

Is the auction is open to the public?
Yes the auction is a free public event. You are welcome without invitation, even if you are not sure if you will acquire a lot.
(Lot: any item or group of items to be auctioned, which have a number listed in the current catalog).

What should I do before the auction?
You can attend the auction before the exhibition where you can see the pieces that will be auctioned.
It is advisable to buy the catalog, because there is a detailed description and photos of each lot.
The day of the auction, at the time of registering at the reception, you will be given a bidder number, (a plastic paddle with a number that you have to raise each time you want to offer an amount to buy a lot).
The register will be asked your name, address and a security deposit for purchases (cash, check or credit card).

What do the estimated prices listed in the catalog mean?
Generally the catalog will shows two prices: a low and a high estimate.
The lot can be sold below the low estimate (if the consignor has not set a minimum price) and can be sold above the high estimate at the time of the auction.

How does the auction work?
When the lot you wish to purchase goes for auction and the auctioneer proposes a sale price at auction and you agree to that amount, simply raise your hand with the paddle that was assigned to you. The auctioneer will continue to raise the price as long as people continue bidding on the same lot.
The last price quoted by the auctioneer to drop the hammer is the "hammer price" and is that amount plus commission (20%) plus VAT of the commission, which you pay for the lot purchased.

Can I bid without physically attending the auction?
Yes, there are three simple ways to bid in absence:
• In writing.
You complete the absentee bidding forms, indicate the number of the lot(s) you want, and the maximum bid you want to offer per lot; and one of our representatives will be making offers on your behalf.
• By telephone.
Prior to the auction, you choose the lot(s) you wish, and at the moment those auction lots goes for auction, one of our representatives will contact you and will be communicating your bids to the auctioneer.
• Online.
